Today’s Star Speaker

Tuesday, October 11, 6:15 - 6:45 p.m.

Nancy Boyd

San Ramon, California

"Even Nice Guys call the Director"

Nancy began her directing career shortly after she began to play. She didn't like it when the director came to the table, said "alkg;s as3di**fgha;woig asldk fna;lsd ;ashd ... so what do you want to do?"

Nancy decided that having a better understanding of the rules would help her to process the director-speak better and know what to do. Twenty-five years later, she began to work as a tournament director in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Today, Nancy oversees bridge operations in the southern districts (including D17) and works with ACBL District Directors (like our own Bonnie Bagley) in support of providing knowledgeable, quality staff and fun tournaments. Nancy is one of two ACBL Field Directors responsible in overseeing the Field Supervisors in Districts 6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, & 23. Her directorial and player talents are matched only by her quick wit and ability to find humor in all aspects of bridge.

Should I Bid... or Not?

Pikes Peak Regional 199er Desk

Drop by the 199er Desk, because we know where the gold is buried! We have a set of tournament hints and info for each player. We're open thirty minutes before 199er events.

Non-Life Masters can request the ever popular free "stickers" with their name and ACBL number for your entries. If you don't have a set, leave your name and ACBL number and check the next day. Some have already been made for Colorado Springs players.

Forgot your name tag? Well, pick up a paper name tag at the 199er desk so folks get to know you! Need a free good pencil eraser? Stop by because you can't "top" ours.

Come to the 199er Desk for a treat, and enter some our contests for Non-Life Masters. We will have some fun questions where you can win a restaurant gift card. Two prizes will be awarded to the player/pair traveling the greatest distance to the Pikes Peak Regional. Out of town players can enter a drawing for a gasoline gift card!

We may have an award for best bridge joke!

Bridge mistakes often have hidden humor. Really!

The 199er Desk will have special appearances by a "Lucy" our expert "Bridge Psychiatrist" For 5 cents, you can ask a vexing bridge question. For really big questions we can convene a "Lucy" jury and get a verdict worth.... well, Peanuts. Come tell us your story, we are all planning to write a book!
